As an election looms, what is the cost of progress?
Harmond Wilks is on the verge of becoming Pittsburgh’s first Black mayor, and his ambitious redevelopment project for the Hill District – including a new golf course – promises economic growth and a new future. But his plans may be derailed by a single rundown house owned by long time resident “Old Joe” Barlow, who may have a deeper connection to Harmond’s past. Along with his upwardly-mobile business partner Roosevelt, his public relations mastermind wife Mame, and street-smart handyman Sterling, Harmond is forced to confront the cost of progress, the meaning of legacy, and the value of community. The riveting final chapter of August Wilson’s 10-play American Century Cycle, Radio Golf is a compelling and timely drama that challenges us to consider what we are willing to sacrifice for the sake of the future.
“Surprising, suspenseful, and crowd-rousing… crackling comedy, engaging snap, and theatrical zest.” – The New York Times
